For potters with an established wheel practice who are just feeling a bit stuck, these one-to-one coaching sessions provide focused support to help move your throwing forward. Whether you want to throw bigger, taller, with more control and consistency, or finally nail a stubborn form that never quite matches your vision, these sessions help you identify and troubleshoot the specific points holding you back.
What you’ll get:
Personalised assessment of your technique and posture, so that we can build on areas of strength to work on any potentially limiting habits.
Targeted exercises and hands-on adjustments to help develop your centering, pulling, shaping, and trimming skills depending on your own personal goals for your creative practice.
Progressions tailored to those goals (bigger/taller throwing, improved wall thickness, consistent forms).
Strategies to build reliable muscle memory and a stronger mind-body connection at the wheel.
A practice plan with “homework” to support your continued improvement following your session.
Who benefits most:
Intermediate potters who already use the wheel regularly and are ready to refine their technique.
Anyone working toward a particular form or scale that isn’t translating from vision to clay.
Potters committed to regular practice (sessions are most effective when paired with ongoing wheel time).
Session format and duration:
These sessions are 60-90 minutes long. Choose the duration which best suits your needs when booking.
Sessions can be combined with one of my studio access plans if you don’t currently have a wheel to practice on.
All tools and materials are included. If you have a favourite apron or tools, you are of course more than welcome to bring them along.
And, of course, please bring your questions, any pictures of your current work you’d like me to see, and your openness to try new approaches.
